Today's lesson we started with free talk and then based on the conversation, Mao chose a grammar point to work on for the rest of the lesson. He was really quick to pull up his resources and explained the main points simply and efficiently in English. He then checks my understanding of the grammar points with exercises. When I struggled, he was able to give me space to try by myself, encouraged when I succeeded, and supported when I made (many) mistakes... He's very kind and patient.

Today's lesson was fun and he could explain a lot of grammar to me. I realize it is difficult to describe things in French but it was nice to play a guessing game together to practice the target language. He is always so professional and patient which makes it easy to relax in class when I am not sure of myself.

Mao can explain and give examples of French grammar or vocabulary nuances really well. He’s really fluent in English and always checks in to see if I have a good understanding of a concept. Even when I make mistakes, he is kind and professional enough to help guide me. He acknowledges that grammar concepts can be a lot of information but he is patient and encouraging because he knows language will take practice and time. I appreciate he is always on time and makes sure to give the student enough time to practice speaking. He shares all the information on a shared Google Drive folder and assigns enough homework for the student to practice target language at home.

My first lesson with Mao was nice. He is very professional and on time. He did a level check with me using images for me to describe and he could pinpoint some weak areas that we could need to work on. He makes sure that the students have a way to build their vocabulary reliably through notes and shared documents. He is fluent in English and that helped me a lot when I felt the need to express myself but wasn't sure how to in French. He also could explain grammar and pronunciation to me and we will continue to work on building basics. I'll be happy to book another lesson with him.
