I'm Miguel, a 'bon-vivant', who was born in Eindhoven and studied art at the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Den Haag, and Film and Literature Theory at the University of Leiden. So I guess it's safe to say that I have a cultural background. I'm also a former chef, so if you like to talk about food, I am your guy.
I now live in Koh Tao, Thailand, and work as a Scuba Dive instructor.
So far I have done more than 5000 lessons with people from 75 different countries. So I think that makes me a multi-culturalist, whatever that means.. ;-)
Apparently, my lessons are not too boring and I can help you with whatever language goals you have..

I have gained a lot of experience in the past years with Italki, so I have learned that there are many ways to teach a language. But I believe that speaking is the best training, so I will focus on conversation, from the start.
For the beginners: have no fear! I am pretty laid-back and I can adjust my lessons to your level. You will feel comfortable trying to speak Dutch. Also, I have been living abroad long enough now, to have lost my 'Dutch directness' a bit and I get along quite well with people from different cultures.
For the advanced learners: I can make things difficult as well and challenge you as much as you like. Of course in a fun and interesting way.Moje lekcje & Styl nauczania
Based on your interests and learning goals, I will customize your classes to your specific needs.
For the beginners classes, I have lots of Dutch textbooks in PDF, such as 'Nederlands in Gang' (A1/A2), 'Nederlands in Actie' (B1), or 'De Delftse Methode´. These books use different methods, so we can discuss which is best for you.
I can also train you for the different language state exams: Inburgering, NT2, EER, etc.
For the more advanced students, who want to practice conversation: We can address different topics, or debate on issues, or practice business Dutch. I am open to anything.

I definitely recommend Miguel if you are looking for a superb Dutch teacher! He is always extremely well prepared, reliable and knowledgeable and, besides that, also has a relaxed, encouraging style, which makes me feel very comfortable to speak. His sense of fun and humour and his natural gift for teaching ensure that I enjoyed and educated myself at the same time. :)

Miguel is an incredible teacher! I will recommend him to everyone. He is a super fun teacher that is able to make something boring into something exciting. He is also a very kind person to have around! Really a pleasure to learn dutch with him :)
