Coral Wang

Coral is very skilled teacher and linguist. From the beginning I stated that I would like to focus on daily conversation. For this reason the lesson focusses on Mandarin conversation, even though I am only at HSK 2 level. It takes a lot of skill and patience on Coral's part to have a conversation with me, but she is happy to listen and guide. Because she is very skilled at English and Mandarin she is able to help me out with translation from English to Mandarin if I ask for help, but she lets me try my best to find a way to express myself in Mandarin. Coral's teaching and language skills and bright and positive personality transform the lesson into a very fruitful and enjoyable learning experience. I highly recommend Coral as a Mandarin teacher.

I think this is my 15th lesson with Coral. We started out by reading DuChinese stories (intermediate and upper levels). Even though I could understand the stories and answer questions, I really struggled with putting my own sentences together. Despite my level, I just couldn't speak very well. So, we decided to stop the reading and focus on just talking instead. By practicing basic conversation, just whatever topic pops up that day, and getting used to the way sentences are built, I feel like my Mandarin is finally getting better. While the lessons are free flowing/not structured, Coral would always find a structure to focus on for that day's lesson. She'd write the grammar structure and we'd try a few sentences using it until I have a good grasp of it. Today, for example, was A + 对 + B and practice speaking with time and place (since I often put the time or place at the end). I’m still learning new words, but having this time to actually practice speaking is exactly what I needed.

Coral is the best teacher, she is very patient, she helps each time when I need her support. You can ask her for some cultural things and she will explain to you with a lot of details. Highly recommend 👌🤩
