New students welcome! 🌸 Tervetuloa opiskelemaan yhdessä! Moi! I’m a native Finnish teacher from Helsinki, currently living in Japan. I speak Finnish, Japanese, English, and Swedish. I've always had a passion for languages, both teaching and learning! I majored Japanese language and culture in university, and after graduating I continued my studies in Japan. I have experienced many different learning techniques, and I’m not shy to say that I’m a slow learner. Practice makes perfect! Teaching Finnish in Japan creates a sense of connection between my life in Japan and my home country, and I want to share Finnish culture with my students. Celebrating the Finnish holidays in Japan is important for me! I have experience teaching Japanese students both online and face-to-face, working with individuals as well as groups of up to 11 students in private language schools. I always tailor my lessons according to my students’ needs and interests, whether you are preparing for school, work or an exam, learning for travel, or simply studying for everyday communication. Note: I do not have particular experience in teaching children. Maija is not only patient and understanding in how students learn a language, but also organised regarding her teaching and the materials she uses, which I appreciate. I'm not the most committed or engaged student and I typically lose motivation, but having Maija as my teacher has helped a lot in continuing my Finnish studies.

Maija is a wonderful teacher. We only had one lesson, but she prepared a lot and furthermore she gave me some task beforehand, so the lesson was structured, even though it was the 1st our meeting. If you are looking for qualified teacher who is passionate about languages, she is the one you are looking for😃 Looking forward for the next lesson!
