Hello, and welcome to the Beyond the Textbook Korean podcast! 🌟
In today’s episode, we explore so-called “sleeping expressions” that appear in textbooks but sound awkward in real-life conversations.

For example, phrases like “Bikisehyo (비키세요)” and “Cheonmaneyo (천만에요)” are grammatically correct but often avoided in daily speech. Why?
Because of Korea’s cultural preference for indirect speech and humility.

📌 Bikisehyo → Jamkkanmanyo / Excuse me

📌 Cheonmaneyo → Aniehyo / It’s okay / No problem

Still, there are exceptions. In emergencies or professional contexts, direct expressions like “Bikisehyo” may be necessary for clarity and safety.

👉 Remember: Language is not just grammar—it’s culture.
By practicing expressions that reflect the Korean mindset, you’ll sound more natural and take your Korean to the next level.

健康码和行程码，你了解过吗？
如果你住在中国，你会发现，疫情期间，人人都在用的，除了口罩，就是健康码了。
在这个“绿码走遍天下，红码寸步难行”的时期，无论你是进超市，还是进公司大楼，听到最多的话就是：来，健康码出示一下！
那么，这种健康码是怎么逐渐流行起来的？
2020年2月，中国疫情正处于最严重的时间。人们应该如何生活和工作成为焦点。此时，一个叫做“钟毅”的警察接到了政府的紧急任务——制定健康码。这是一个全新的想法。他们没有任何可以参考的东西。因此，颜色、图形结构、空间安排等每一个细节都需要反复确定。而这个过程，钟毅和他的团队用了48个小时。更新系统近30多次，接听咨询电话380多个，走访不同地区50多个。最终，他们制定出来了。感染了新冠病毒的人，医院会把病人的信息上传到健康码里面。他的健康码就会变成红色。跟他接触过的人健康码会变成黄色。而其他的人，则是绿色。当天下午，健康码正式向全国人民开放使用。“健康码”普及全国，为中国的防疫工作提供了一张地图。
行程码是由中国的通信公司制定的一种二维码。手机定位能告诉你14天内到过的所有地方的信息。在确保信息安全的情况下，为疫情防控、道路通行、出入境等提供了可靠的技术。
面对新冠病毒，中国实行的是“清零”政策，健康码和行程码的作用就体现出来了。根据你的行程和所接触人的情况，健康码和行程码会出现绿色、黄色、红色。绿色代表你很健康，没有感染新冠病毒。黄色代表你可能接触过感染新冠病毒的人。红色代表你跟感染新冠病毒的人有非常近的关系，你有90%的可能已经感染病毒了。
