Fancy a Cuppa? Fancy, Reckon, Suppose and Mind | Real British English #058
Descrição
Learners often say "Do you want to drink tea?" or "I think that it will rain." These are correct, but at home British people usually say "Fancy a cuppa?" and "I reckon it'll rain." And when a neighbour asks "Do you mind if I sit here?", many learners answer "Yes!" to be friendly, which actually means "Please don't." Today we learn six small, very British verbs: fancy, reckon, suppose, mind, bother and sort. All of them are casual to neutral, so they are perfect for home, friends and neighbours.
In this episode:
• Fancy: wanting something
• Reckon and suppose: thinking and guessing
• Mind: caring and being careful
• Bother and sort
• SCENE: A FRIDAY EVENING (an invented household)
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
