I was born and raised in Cagliari, County Seat of Sardinia, one of Italy's major islands. Sardinia is worldwide famous for its wonderful beaches, definitely less known for its unpolluted nature in the hinterland. In the south of Sardinia you can find Cagliari, its main and biggest city. What do I love the most of my city is, probably, its livability: Cagliari is very people-oriented! In the past I lived for seven years in Rome, during my academic period, so I'm quite familiar with a big, chaotic, not so clean and crowded city. Cagliari it's all another kettle of fish: tidy, quite clean, nice weather, with no traffic jams, just enough big and with the right amount of people. I'm probably biased, but for me it's the perfect city to live in. A feature that represents Cagliari, one of the classic postcards that you can send from here, is the "Devil's Saddle", a promontory that you can see from different points of the city (you can see it on the picture I posted). Its characteristic is the shape that looks like a saddle. You're probably wondering why do we call it the Devil's Saddle. The legend tales that Lucifer and his demons were charmed by the beauty of the gulf of Cagliari and wanted to seize it, so God sent his Angels, led by St. Michael, to fight them. The battle was fought in the skies over the gulf and there are two different versions of the legend to explain the name (or even the existence) of the promontory: the most famous one tells that Lucifer, while escaping, was thrown from his horse and lost his saddle that fell in the sea and turned to rock. The other version tells that, during the battle, the Devil fell on the promontory, giving to it the current form. As a result we still call the promontory Devil's Saddle, and the gulf it's called the Gulf of Angels.
