After that, I worked in a branch of a large international language school for 7 years, teaching General and Business English to adults. Since 2010, I've been teaching online, and I've taught thousands of lessons to hundreds of students, specialising in IELTS preparation and structured English language courses.

Certified TEFL teacher with more than 10 years of experience My first experience as a teacher was in my martial arts club in Pittsburgh. I taught for 10 years. Though this seems quite different from teaching a language, it was, in fact, excellent preparation for my career as an English teacher. Learning correct pronunciation involves learning unfamiliar movements. It is much more a physical skill than an academic exercise. To achieve fluency in speaking, one cannot carefully think about each word or phrase --- words and phrases must be automatic. To learn to speak automatically, one must practice regularly and diligently. I prefer to correct a student's mistakes immediately so that s/he is more likely to remember the correct usage.
