こんにちは～！マルハバ！サウジの日本語の先生、佳子です。このポッドキャストでは、サウジアラビアでの生活や文化、日本との違いなどを、日本語でゆるくお話ししています。みなさんー！お元気ですかー？私は元気です！前回、一時帰国のためにお土産を探していると話しましたね。でも、フライトがキャンセルになって帰国できませんでした。3年半ぶりの帰国なのでものすごく楽しみにしていたので、とても残念です。そのかわり、サウジでゆっくり過ごしていました。3月の前半はラマダン、20日から22日の三日間はイードと呼ばれる１年で最も大きな祝日でした。
今日はイードはどんな祝日かについてお話ししたいと思います。実はイードと呼ばれる祝日は年に二回あります。一回目は4週間のラマダンが終わった翌日から三日間断食を終えたお祝いをします。二回目は１回目の約二か月後にある四日間の犠牲祭と呼ばれるイードです。ラマダンもイードも毎年１０日間前後ずれるので、毎年同じ日ではありません。どちらのイードにも共通しているのは、「イード・ムバーラク」というお祝いのあいさつをみんなにすること。朝モスクに行って特別なお祈りをすること。家族と食事をすること、寄付です。大きな家族の集まりがあれば、きまって羊肉のごはんのご馳走が出ます。サウジの家族は大きいので必然的に親戚が多いです。3日間で3、4軒親戚の家を訪問するのは普通です。何百人も集まる場合もあります。訪問のたびに同じような羊肉のご馳走を食べます。また、子供達にはイディーヤと呼ばれるお金をあげます。日本で言う「お年玉」です。イディーヤはイードの時に渡す贈り物のことで、お金に限ったわけではないですが、時代とともにお金を渡すのが一般的になりました。そしてイードの時に貧しい人を助けることも重要です。一回目のイードでは食べ物やお金を寄付することが多く、二回目のイードでは犠牲にした羊肉を分けることが多いです。
今年の１回目のイードはどうだったかというと、一日目の夜に夫の実家のパーティーに行きました。といっても毎週末集まるいつものメンバーだけです。私はドレス、息子はサウジの民族衣装のソーブを着ました。前回のイードとラマダンの時、息子は「痛いから着たくない」と言ってソーブを着ようとしなかったのですが、今年は「イードパーティーだから着ようかな」と言って着ました。息子の久しぶりのソーブ姿を見てみんな「かっこいい、素敵だね」と褒めていました。私と夫はここ数年、息子のいとこ３人におもちゃをイディーヤとしてあげていたのですが、ネタ切れになったためお金を渡すことにしました。5－7歳の子供たちなのでおもちゃのほうが喜ぶかもしれないのですが、今まで年に２回のイードと誕生日会でおもちゃを渡していたので、もう何をあげればいいかわかりませんでした。日本ではお年玉はお年玉袋に入れて渡すのが一般的ですが、サウジでもイディーヤ専用の小さな封筒に入れて渡すことが多いです。私たちは専用の袋を買い忘れたので、急遽印刷した日本のお年玉袋に入れて渡しました。息子はお金をたくさんもらっていました。夕食はお決まりのラム肉のご馳走！久しぶりだったので二人分くらい食べちゃいました。イードに限ったことではないですが、家族や家族と過ごす時間を大切にする、このサウジの文化が本当に素敵で大好きです。
