Aug 21, 2021. Driving in heavy rain Today, when I drove back home, I encountered a heavy downpour. The sun had been shining a second before, then all of a sudden, It started pouring rain. I was scared inside, because we were driving at a high speed on the highway. The visibility was low in the rain, as the rain was splashing against the windows, even with the windshield wipers operating. However I didn’t show my dread, I wanted to appear composed in front of Isabella at such a time of emergency. I slowed down to avoid hydroplaning, turned my headlights on to see approaching cars and judge distance, and turned my flashing hazard light, thinking that would make it easier for other drivers to see us. The most dangerous moment whilst this span of time was when a car in front of me was driving through a puddle and splashing our wind screen. It completely blocked my vision for several seconds. Fortunately I tightly held my steering wheel and got through that. The rain stopped and it became sunny again after about half an hour, so we drove in good weather condition for the rest of the trip.

However I didn’t show my dread, I wanted to appear composed in front of Isabella at such an emergency. I slowed down to avoid hydroplaning (what’s this word in Chinese), turned my headlights on to see approaching cars and to judge the distance. (I could be wrong but I started a new sentence because it was a run-on) Then I turned on my flashing hazard lights, thinking that would make it easier for other drivers to see us. The most dangerous moment during this time was when a car in front of me drove (past-tense) through a puddle and splashed (past-tense) our windshield. It completely blocked my vision for several seconds. Fortunately, I tightly held my steering wheel and was safe. The rain stopped and it became sunny again after about half an hour, so we drove in good, dry weather for the rest of the trip.

Well done. I never liked driving in rain!
