***Please note that students must have their own copy of the book. Students must also be able to read and understand the story to become members of this club.*** Chapters will be assigned weekly. Each week, we will explore a different topic, as it relates to the chapters we have read. Students will participate in a guided discussion of each chapter. We will discuss vocabulary words and our understanding of what has taken place. Our classes will include vocabulary and word work, comprehension and critical thinking, writing activities, character and setting exploration, as well as, some geography. While this is a book club, it is also an English class. Attention will be paid to spoken grammar and vocabulary will be expanded. Classes will take place in my Koala Go classroom. Koala Go is an amazing learning platform for such an adventure, as it offers us a place to physically explore the setting and characters of this novel. Beyond the story elements, grammar, and vocabulary that students will learn, book clubs offer social interactions. Interactions that offer differing points of view, and ideas. They offer an experience of a book, that we cannot have on our own.
