Io sono Enza, insegno italiano per stranieri e oggi vi porto in un piccolo viaggio a Trieste… tra porto, mare e, soprattutto, caffè.

Sapete, Trieste non è solo il porto e le colline. Trieste è la città del caffè. Qui non si ordina “un caffè” e basta: no, no… qui ogni caffè ha il suo nome, la sua storia e… la sua personalità!
Entriamo in un bar storico, per esempio il Caffè San Marco. Il barista ci sorride: “Buongiorno, cosa prende?”
Se vuoi un nero, è semplice: un espresso nella classica tazzina.
Ma se vuoi fare il vero triestino, puoi chiedere un nero in B: sì, in bicchiere! Perché qui il bicchiere fa subito città portuale.
Hai voglia di latte? Allora arriva il capo o, se vuoi fare il raffinato, il capo in B. È un caffè macchiato servito in bicchiere, così puoi ammirare il gioco tra il caffè scuro e la schiuma bianca… quasi un piccolo dipinto!
E se proprio vuoi sentirti un esperto locale, prova il deca in B: il caffè decaffeinato, sempre in bicchiere, perché anche senza caffeina, qui il bicchiere è d’obbligo.

A Trieste il caffè è anche socialità: non è raro vedere due persone che discutono animatamente sul “nero” perfetto o sul bicchiere giusto. E attenzione alle parole: se chiedi un “caffelatte” a un triestino, sorriderà… perché qui si dice ancora “caffelatte”, non cappuccino! Piccoli dettagli che raccontano una città.

A Trieste, il caffè non è solo una bevanda: è un piccolo viaggio nella cultura, nella lingua e nelle abitudini locali. La prossima volta che entrerete in un bar triestino, ricordatevi: potete ordinare un nero, un capo o un capo in B… ma soprattutto, godetevi il momento.

— Гасить огни, закрывать трубы, окна, запирать двери! — слышалась ее команда. — Поди, Василиса, посмотри, не курят ли трубок? Нет ли где сквозного ветра? Отойди, Марфенька, от окна!

Пока ветер качал и гнул к земле деревья, столбами нес пыль, метя поля, пока молнии жгли воздух и гром тяжело, как хохот, катался в небе, бабушка не смыкала глаз, не раздевалась, ходила из комнаты в комнату, заглядывала, что делают Марфенька и Верочка, крестила их и крестилась сама, и тогда только успокоивалась, когда туча, истратив весь пламень и треск, бледнела и уходила вдаль.

Утром восходило опять радостное солнце и играло в каждой повисшей на листьях капельке, в каждой луже, заглядывало в каждое окно и било в стекла и щели счастливого приюта.

Какие виды кругом — каждое окно в доме было рамой своей особенной картины! С одной стороны Волга с крутыми берегами и Заволжьем; с другой — широкие поля, обработанные и пустые, овраги, и все это замыкалось далью синевших гор. С третьей стороны видны села, деревни и часть города. Воздух свежий, прохладный, от которого, как от летнего купанья, пробегает по телу дрожь бодрости. Дом весь был окружен этими видами, этим воздухом, да полями, да садом. Сад обширный около обоих домов, содержавшийся в порядке, с темными аллеями, беседкой и скамьями. Чем далее от домов, тем сад был запущеннее.

Подле огромного развесистого вяза, с сгнившей скамьей, толпились вишни и яблони: там рябина; там шла кучка лип, хотела было образовать аллею, да вдруг ушла в лес и братски перепуталась с ельником, березняком. И вдруг все кончалось обрывом, поросшим кустами, идущими почти на полверсты берегом до Волги. Подле сада, ближе к дому, лежали огороды. Там капуста, репа, морковь, петрушка. огурцы, потом громадные тыквы, а в парнике арбузы и дыни. Подсолнечники и мак, в этой массе зелени, делали яркие, бросавшиеся в глаза, пятна; около тычинок вились турецкие бобы.

Man 1: Several years ago, I was in a car accident that left me with a back injury. As a computer programmer, I am still able to do my job, but I often have to take painkillers. When the pain gets particularly bad, I sometimes have to lie down on my back for a while until it goes away because sitting up really hurts. When we were in the office, I would worry that my colleagues would see me taking pills. Since we’ve been working from home, it has been much better. I can go and see my physical therapist more often too. I don’t have to worry as much and if I need to lie down for a little while to help my back, I can. When we were in the office, I’d sometimes be in a lot of pain but didn’t feel like I could say anything.

Woman: I have suffered from depression for a long time. Most of the time I manage it, but I often feel very nervous. Working in an office was really hard as I was always scared that I might panic and my colleagues would wonder why I was acting strangely. Working at home has been so much better for me as I don’t have to talk to so many people and I can have a relaxed environment and play peaceful music. Management is talking about going back to the office soon and I can already feel a lot of anxiety about it. I’m worried that I will not be able to hide that I’m depressed and people will judge me.

Man 2: I’m quite deaf in one ear. I don’t like to mention it when I’m at work because I feel as though there is often a stigma around disabilities. I worry that people will treat me differently. The problem is, sometimes I don’t hear when people are talking to me and then they think I’m ignoring them or I’m not listening. Working at home has been great for me because all of our communication has been online or video calls and I can wear headphones like everyone else. I’m not looking forward to going back to the office and I don’t see the point as I can do my job perfectly well from home.
