想 (xiǎng) and 要 (yào) are both verbs in Chinese that can be translated as "want" in English, but they are used in different contexts and convey slightly different meanings.
想 (xiǎng) is used to express a desire or inclination, often accompanied by a feeling or emotion. It can be translated as "to think" or "to wish" in English. For example:
我想去旅游。 (Wǒ xiǎng qù lǚyóu.)
I want to go traveling.
他想学游泳。 (Tā xiǎng xué yóuyǒng.)
He wants to learn how to swim.
要 (yào) is used to express a strong desire or intention, often with the idea of taking action to achieve a goal. It can be translated as "to want" or "to need" in English. For example:
我要一杯咖啡。 (Wǒ yào yī bēi kāfēi.)
I want a cup of coffee.
他要买一辆新车。 (Tā yào mǎi yī liàng xīn chē.)
He wants to buy a new car.
Note that in some contexts, 想 (xiǎng) and 要 (yào) can be used interchangeably, especially in spoken Chinese. In this case, the choice of word may depend on the speaker's style or emphasis.

こんにちは～！マルハバ！サウジの日本語の先生、佳子です＾＾
みなさんー！お元気ですかー？サウジにもついに冬がやってきましたーーー！先週末から雨が降り、その影響で気温がぐんと下がりました。今週は最高気温が２２度くらい、朝７時半は１２度くらいです。朝晩はめちゃめちゃ冷え込みます。
ということで、今日はサウジの冬についてお話ししたいと思います。以前にもサウジの冬についてお話したのですが、今回はもうちょっと個人的な話もしますね。
一言で言うと「サウジの冬、大好き！」。日本で言う１１月くらいの気温ですね。日本の秋も大好きなのですが、同じくらいサウジの冬が好きですね。気温が完ぺき。そしてピクニックやお出かけがしたくなる！
冬の始まりはだいたい雨です。１１－１２月に数日雨が続いて気温が下がり、「あー、冬が来たなー」となります。地域によって違いがあると思いますが、夏には本当に雨が降りません。春にもたまーに雨が降りますが、１１月から１月にもっと降ります。なので雨イコール冬のイメージです。といっても毎日うんざりするほど降るわけではないですよ。年にもよりますが、時々です。なんていったってサウジの年間降水量は６０－１００ｍｍです。年に何回かの雨ウィークにどっと降ります。私の実家がある金沢なんて年間２４００ｍｍも降るんですよ。冬なんて毎日雨か雪。夏にもたくさん雨が降ります。雷で眠れないこともしばしば。そして大雪や台風が来ない限りは学校や仕事に行かないといけない。私は晴れが好きなので、夏がものすごく暑くてもサウジに住むほうが好きです。サウジでは雨が降ると学校がオンライン授業になることもよくあります。先週の雨ウィークでも３日間オンライン授業になりました。そういえば、サウジで傘を持ってなかったのですが、やっぱ念のため持っておこうかなと思ってアマゾンで購入してみました。まだ開けてないので、そろそろ開けてみます。

そして先日イケアのセールでラグを買いました。ちょうど冬になったタイミングでラグが半額になって驚いたのですが、冬のラグは最高ですね！気持ち良すぎる。家に暖房器具がまだないので、この冬は暖房なしで乗り切れるのかちょっと疑問です。去年の冬は寒かったので、夫の実家では電気ヒーターを使っていました。今のアパートのエアコンにも暖房モードがないので、大丈夫かな。ちょっと心配。厚着で乗り切れるかなー。

それでは今日のフレーズです。今日のフレーズは「しばしば」です。一定の期間に繰り返されることを表します。「よく」や「しょっちゅう」、「ときどき」などと言い換えができます。そして、「しばしば起こります。しばしばあります。」の「起こります、あります」が省略されて、「しばしば。」で文が終わることもよくあります。「しょっちゅう」も同じ使い方ができますよ。
