A friend of mine, Sam, runs an amateur drama group. They put on three or four plays a year in a small local theatre. Sam directs all of them, sometimes takes a leading role and even writes some of the plays they perform as well. I don't do much acting myself, but I once played a servant in a comedy. Most of the time I help with costume and stage design, but sometimes I have a small role in one of the plays. We have a lot of fun.

Die deutschen Dialekte

(A)  Grob geschätzt gibt es in Deutschland etwa 20 Dialekte. Wenn man allerdings genau hinsieht, sind es erheblich mehr, denn die einzelnen Mundarten lassen sich kaum voneinander ABGRENZEN. 
(B)  Es ist jedoch eine Tatsache, dass der Bewohner Hamburgs im Norden den Münchner im Süden nur mit Mühe versteht und dass der Württemberger für einen Film, in dem Plattdeutsch gesprochen wird, vermutlich Untertitel braucht. 

(C)  Sprachforscher beklagen, dass die Dialekte zugunsten des Hochdeutschen mehr und mehr in Vergessenheit geraten. Das ist schade, denn ein Dialekt hat reiche Ausdrucksformen, die auch die Kultur seiner Sprecher WIDERSPIEGELN. Leider ist dieser Niedergang im Zeitalter der Medien und der großen Mobilität der Bevölkerung kaum noch aufzuhalten.

(D)  Interessanterweise stellte sich bei einer UMFRAGE heraus, dass mehr als ein Viertel der Deutschen das „Bayerische“ gerne hört, während „Sächsisch“ auf dem letzten Platz der Beliebtheitsskala der Dialekte landete.
