Kev's English Podcast: Episode 4: How to move from B1/2 Intermediate to C1 Advanced

You've landed the interview – congratulations! Now you need to convince them that you're the perfect fit. Focus on confident communication. It's not about bragging; it's about presenting yourself with clarity, authority, and a winning mindset.

First impressions matter.  Avoid the passive voice and vague statements. Instead of saying, "I could potentially contribute," say, "I'm eager to leverage my marketing expertise to expand your customer base."  Action verbs like "leverage" and "expand" showcase your proactive approach.

Back up your claims with results. Don't just say you're a team player.  Tell a story!  "In my previous role, I collaborated with a diverse team to launch a new product that boosted sales by 20%." Specific examples paint a vivid picture of your accomplishments.

Speak directly to the interviewer. Phrases like "I think" weaken your message. Instead, take ownership of your ideas. Say, "We can implement a strategy that tackles your current challenges head-on." This conveys confidence and decisiveness.

Focus on the positive. When discussing past experiences, highlight your successes. Did you overcome a challenge? Learned a new skill quickly? Share those stories! They demonstrate your adaptability and willingness to learn.

Remember, the interview is a two-way street. Tailor your language to the company culture. Research their values and communication style. If they're data-driven, use metrics and numbers. A laid-back startup might appreciate a more enthusiastic and creative approach.

Finally, don't underestimate the power of body language. Maintain eye contact, project good posture, and speak with a clear, enthusiastic tone. It all adds up to a confident presence that will leave a lasting impression.

Showcase your skills and experience, but also assess if the company culture aligns with your own communication style.  Confident communication is a win-win, helping you land the job you deserve and find a work environment where you can thrive.

こんにちは！
Japanese daily life podcast のAtsushiです。
このPodcastは、日本語を勉強しているみなさんに向けたPodcastです。

今日は、僕の個人的な勉強法について話します。

今のところですが。
これでめちゃくちゃ上達した！というわけではないですが、今このようなルーティンで勉強することによって、少しずつ良くなっているように感じていますので、少し話します。



発音はYouTubeやPodcastを聞いて一緒に発声します。
ですので、ランニングしている時や、シャワーをあびている時に聴くことが多いです。

語彙、単語は、最近はアプリを使って聞き流しています。
YouTubeでも時々流したりします。できるだけ声に出します。

最近始めたのは、日本のニュースがNHKの WEBサイトでEnglishニュースを見れるので、それを読んでいることです。
文法やreadingが苦手なので、スラッシュをいれて区切りながら、意味ごとに理解するようにしています。ニュースを読んでいる時に、わからない単語があるので、そのまま意味を調べます。ニュースは何度も同じような単語が出てくるので、自然と覚えると思います。

10年ぐらい前からPodcastでNHKのEnglish NEWSを聴くようにはしていました。その時からよく聞いていた単語は、さすがに覚えています。例えばprime minister とか、prefecture とか、普段使わないような言葉も覚えたので、Podcastでニュースを聞き続けることは良いと思います。ちなみに、日本のNHKのNEWS Podcastは、いろんな言語で聞くことができます。これはとてもオススメです。

アウトプットはオンラインレッスンで話すことですね。
今まではインプットをしても、話せないままでした。今は、オンラインレッスンでアウトプットして、レベルアップしているか確認します。まだまだうまくは話せませんが、1年以上続けていて、確実に上達はしています。妻からも話せるようになってる、と言われます。

他にもご飯作っている時に、YouTubeで英語のチャンネルを見ます。ルパ先生とか、フレンズ英会話とか、スタディイン英会話を良くみます。１つのフレーズや、単語などにフォーカスして話してくれるので、あ、そうなんや！と気づくことがたくさんあります。


とこんな感じです。
人によってあう、あわないがあると思いますが、
いろんな人にあうように言うと、
どこでどんな方法で勉強するかを決める
ながらのものと、集中するものとわける
できるだけその言語につかる
とかですかね。
