Self introduction!  

Hello to all of you! I’m Ann, and I was born in a town in Iloilo, about 30 kilometers away from the city. Our home was surrounded by a small coffee plantation, with trees like mango, coconut, cacao, and many other tropical or native fruits — it really felt like paradise! We also had plenty of animals around — chickens, geese, ducks, goats, pigs, cows, and even a carabao — and a small rice field. That was my childhood — simple, yet full of joy and natural beauty.

Now, I carry those memories and stories with me here on the podcast Ma-HILIGAYNON Ta!

I still clearly remember how we used to walk about 3 kilometers just to get to school when my siblings and I were in elementary. It was only when I got to high school that we moved closer to the highway. During the rainy season, we’d walk barefoot through rice paddies and small streams, carrying our school shoes and supplies. We would wash our muddy feet in a little stream beside the road before waiting for our favorite tricycle driver to pass by and take us to school.

You know, it’s only now that I realize how tough that was — but back then, it all felt like fun. I never even thought of it as difficult, especially for young schoolgirls like me.

We had a very loyal dog — his name was Burgo. He looked like he came from a police breed, maybe part German Shepherd mixed with a native dog. He was a gift from my grandfather. He was my companion through every silly adventure and farm chore.

   Недавно Лена была в Москве. Там она видела папу, маму, брата, подругу.  Родители  спросили,  как  живут  Лена  и  её  муж.  Лена  сказала, что они живут хорошо, что у них всё нормально.
   Сейчас  Лена  не  учится,  потому  что  она  ждёт  ребёнка.  Лена  хочет девочку, а её муж — мальчика. Виктор и Лена — хорошая семья.

في السجن، رأى بعض السجناء رؤى، ففسّرها لهم يوسف عليه السلام.

ووصل خبره إلى ملك مصر، الذي رأى رؤيا عظيمة.

فاستدعى يوسف.

فسّر يوسف الرؤيا، وأخبر الملك أن البلاد ستواجه سنوات من الرخاء، ثم سنوات من القحط.

أُعجب الملك بحكمته، وأخرجه من السجن، وجعله مسؤولًا عن خزائن الأرض.

وبعد سنوات، جاء إخوته إلى مصر، يطلبون الطعام

فنظر إليهم يوسف، وعرفهم…

لكنهم لم يعرفوه.

وبعد أحداثٍ طويلة، كشف لهم الحقيقة.

قال:

(أَنَا يُوسُفُ)

شعروا بالندم، وطلبوا العفو.

فقال لهم:

(لَا تَثْرِيبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ)

ثم اجتمع بوالديه.

وتحققت الرؤيا التي رآها وهو طفل.

وسجد له أبواه وإخوته سجود تكريم.

وهكذا تحولت حياة يوسف عليه السلام…

من بئرٍ مظلم،
إلى مقامٍ عظيم.

وكان الدرس واضحًا:

أن الصبر… طريق التمكين.

INVEST IN YOURSELF FIRST BEFORE INVESTING IN RELATIONSHIPS

In this episode, we take the Chinese character yún (cloud) as the starting point, to explore how the ancient Chinese created characters based on the world around them. We will talk about how the two natural features of clouds—layering and curling—evolved into a series of related characters: from "yún (cultivate)" to "céng (layer)", from "tán (wine jar)" to "hún (soul)". We also explore the origin of characters like "tǔ (land)", "shè (society)", "zuò (sit)", "xiǎo (small)" and "shǎo (few)", and share the ancient farming culture hidden in the classic Chinese saying "No pains, no gains". It's a perfect episode for Chinese learners to understand how ancient Chinese built their whole character system from a simple drawing of clouds.


云	yún	Cloud	甲骨文就是古人画的云的形象，上半部分代表云的分层，下半部分代表云的卷曲
耘	yún	Cultivate	云 + 古代农具 “耒”，代表在田里分层翻土，就是 “耕耘” 的含义
层	céng	Layer	来自云的分层的含义，用来形容分层的事物，比如楼层、千层蛋糕
坛	tán	Jar/Altar	云 + 土，来自云的卷曲的含义，形容卷曲形状的酒坛子
魂	hún	Soul	云 + 鬼，古人认为灵魂像云一样卷曲飘着，所以用云来造这个字
土	tǔ	Land/Soil	古人眼中凸起的土堆，是古代农业社会的根本
社	shè	Society	土 + 祭祀的 “示”，古人祭祀土地神的地方，后来引申出 “社会” 的含义
坐	zuò	Sit/Because	原本的古意是 “因为”，和土地神有关，后来才慢慢变成了 “坐下” 的意思
小	xiǎo	Small	来自土堆上的小尘土颗粒，引申出 “大小小” 的含义
少	shǎo	Few/Little	和 “小” 同源，最早都是小石子，引申出 “数量少” 的含义
沙	shā	Sand	小石子 + 水，就是海边的沙子
砂	shā	Grit/Sand	小石子 + 石，就是砂石，比如砂锅的砂
