The early Jin dynasty refers to the period beginning with Sima Yan's establishment of the Western Jin in 266, followed by the conquest of Eastern Wu in 280, thereby unifying the Three Kingdoms. This ushered in the prosperous era known as the Taikang Reign. Yet the early Jin dynasty also sowed the seeds of division. To consolidate imperial authority, Sima Yan lavishly enfeoffed numerous princes of the same surname, thereby laying the groundwork for the subsequent ‘Rebellion of the Eight Princes’ that would tear at the heart of centralised power.

今は10月です。日本の季節は　秋です。
秋と言えば、思い浮かぶものには　いろいろあります。
例えば、栗。　早い物は9月の末ごろから　八百屋やスーパーの店先に並び始めます。私は　栗を見ると　運動会を思い出します。　運動会の日は、給食はないので、お弁当を持って行きます。運動会の日のお弁当は特別でした。ご飯とおかずの入ったお弁当箱の他に、家で湯がいた栗が数個、一緒に包んでありました。食べやすいように、包丁で真ん中に切り込みが入れてありました。そして、スプーンで栗の実をすくって食べたことを覚えています。栗の実は少し硬かったり、べちゃっとしていたりするものもありましたが、ほとんどは　ふっくらと甘くて　とてもおいしかったです。　栗の実を落とさないように　スプーンの先と栗の実を　真剣に見ながら、すくっては口に運んでいました。少しでもたくさん栗の実を食べたくて、渋皮ぎりぎりのところまでスプーンでほじくるようにして食べたものです。　そのときの情景が　ありありと目に浮かんできます。幸せな時間でした。
　ほかにも秋を感じるものはあります。　庭に咲く金木犀の花です。オレンジ色をした小さな花が　枝先にぎっしりとつきます。今、ちょうど　うちの庭で　咲いています。そして、ほんのり甘い　いい匂いが庭を包みます。へやの窓を開けていると、風向きによって　そのいい匂いが　ふわっと部屋の中に入ってきたりします。今　私のうちの庭にある金木犀の木は、27年前の阪神大震災の後に植え直したものです。震災の前も　うちの庭には　金木犀の木がありました。それは、すっかり大きくなった大人の木でした。でも、震災で壊れた家を建て直すときに、庭にあったすべてのものをどけてしまわなくてはいけませんでした。私が大好きだった金木犀も例外ではありませんでした。家を建て直して数年後、やっぱり金木犀の木が　庭に欲しいと思った私は、1メートルぐらいのまだ子どもの金木犀を買って植えました。3年ぐらいは花がつきませんでしたが、背丈が大きくなって、　私の身長を抜くころには　花が咲くようなりました。そして、今年も　秋が来たことを知らせるように　うちの庭で　咲いてくれています。
