I play a guitar. It was my dream since I was a child. This instrument has wide sound variety and can be as strong and sharp as soft and calm. I like guitar for such capability. You can't just play the instrument. You have to be an instrument. As for me I am a "guitar". It helps to reach a harmony and explore myself.
That's why I choose this instrument.

I can play the piano but I don't think I have become a piano yet. Maybe if I did, I would be better 😂
We use present perfect with 'since' in English.
E.g.
He has been sick since last week.
She has been asleep since yesterday morning.
Cycling had been my passion since I first rode a bike.
