What did I do during reunification and Labour day holidays? Vietnamese Reunification day is held annually on April 30th, marking the liberation of south Vietnam and the unification of Vietnam. International worker’s day is also called Labour Day which means to commemorate the International worker’s movement of the 1800s. The dates of these two holidays are consecutive so this time of year is therefore looked forward to due to numerous days off occuring at the same time. On these holidays, the government allows all citizens to take time off from work or not need to go to school. Some companies or organizations will have holiday’s bonus for all employees. If the dates fall on the weekdays from Monday to Wednesday, we’ll be off on 2 days. If they appear on Thursday, Friday, the holidays will last longer to Sunday. And on the case on the weekends, we have 2 rostered days off like this year. On the first day of the holidays, I attended my high school’s wedding. The next day, I visited a trendy destination 50 km away from my city by my scooter. The remaining days, I took time for my parents and relatives. Besides Tet holiday, Reunification Day and Labour Day holidays are the second important holiday for citizens. We spend these days to be grateful and remember the heroes who sacrificed.
