スポーツ観戦で選手たちに「ファイト!」などで声援を送りますが、英語だと何を言えばいいですか?直接fightを言っていけないですよね。真っ逆の意味が捉えることになります…英語では戦闘、戦いの意味です。 そして、何でファイトが日本語では「がんばれ!」の意味になっているのかも興味深いです。 すみません、長々と書いちゃいましたが、頑張れとファイトの英語の表現を教えて頂ければ幸いです。よろしくお願いします🤲。

Hi Joy, In English we say: "Go go go!" Or we say: "Let's Go" . See these videos for examples. https://youtu.be/YPP9SmPxpqo?t=75 https://youtu.be/5d4GtMZ--Pg?t=112 The reason "Fight" in Japanese means "gambare" is because in American gymnasiums we had banners that had the words "Go" or "Fight" or "Team Spirit" etc.. Japan probably picked up the word "Fight" in that context in the 1950s or 1960s.

Japanese like to use loan words, especially English so almost all Katakana words are loan words and most are English words pronounced with a Japanese pronunciation. So once a person is comfortable with Japanese pronunciation, then the English loan words are easy to understand and read/pronounce. I am never confused by words. But I don't learn words from lists of vocabulary. I learn them one at a time when I hear them or read them in my daily life. I've been in Japan for more than thirty years and having katakana loan words has in Japanese has been very helpful to me. I am learning Russian now, and I get confused by words too when I am learning them from lists of vocabulary and even from texts. It is normal. But if you can use the word in real life, then it will be easier to remember. That is the real trick to learning vocabulary, but also it takes time for the brain to remember the words.
