Dear italku users, could you help me with these sentences?
1. I have two gallons less gas than you do (ex. you have 10, I have 8)
2. I have the same amount of (the?) gas that you do
I'm not sure that the sentence 1 is correct. As for the sentence 2, I'm not sure if there has to be "the" or is it just possible depending on the context.

I think the most natural way to express those two ideas, at least in American English, would be like this:
1. I have two less gallons of gas than you (do).
2. I have the same amount of gas as you (do).
“Do” would be optional.
