Why is saying " You are making family apart." incorrect grammatically? Thank you!

The verb Making requires an object to complete the sentence. Family is a singular noun that doesn’t match the verb. Correct idiomatic expressions “You are driving the family apart” “You are tearing the family apart” “You are making the family break apart” “You are breaking the family apart”

I am not sure it is technically grammatically incorrect (except you need to add an article -- the family). Apart is usually used an adverb, but could be an adjective e.g. We are apart. But phrases like 'break apart' would be highly preferred because these are phrasal verbs. They go together naturally. While make and apart just make an odd couple.

because you are using “apart”, which is an adverb, as if it were an adjective. If instead you used an adjective, like “sad”, it would be grammatical.

It's "tearing apart", can't make something apart
