I just happened to read a weird story, which was real. Maybe I should've used the word "creepy" instead of " weird" here in order to express my feelings about this story.
We all know about the " Three-Body Problem", or have heard about it. This is the first time I heard of the story behind it.
In 2009, an magazine editor saw the book " The Three-Body Problem" and was really interested. She convinced her movie-director husband to purchase the IP of movie/tv /other development, from the writer Liucixin at a very low price (about $15000). Liu and his novel wasn't that popular at the time.
In the same year, a genius guy called Linqi quit his job and became a web game developer/entrepreneur. He became a billionaire after five years when his business went to public. As a rich businessman with vision, he was really intrigued for developing something similar to " Star wars". He found the editor/director couple and wanted to purchase the IP right of "Three Body". The couple insisted to be involved in making a movie together.
In 2014,the rich guy Linqi invested about $30,000,000 on a Three Body movie. The movie was a failure, with the incompetent screenwriter/director couple. It didn't even go to a movie theater.
The rich Linqi hired his legal guy Xu later and Xu helped to convince the couple to sell the Three-Body at about a price of $17,500,000.
Linqi started a new " Three Body" company and asked the legal guy Xu to be the CEO with $3M yearly salary. One thing worth mentioning here is that Linqi generously gave the original author Liucixin 5% shares of the company without being asked. Yet Xu wasn't really good at other business except for legal issues. So the rich guy Linqi lowered his salary to $70000 yearly. Lin started doing all the tv/catoon/tencent/netflix cooperation himself and started earning reputation. That's also when the legal guy started hating the rich guy.
To be continued.

Sounds interesting! I have read the three “Three Body Problem” novels. I mean to read the Wandering Earth.
