In Ecuador we have a very cool tradition at the end of the year. People always prepare an “old year man”. It’s such a big figure made with old clothes and paper and it represents all the bad and good things that happened during the year. At midnight all the people come out of their homes and burn the figure, celebrating the new year and saying goodbye to the old year. Also, it’s a way of leaving behind the bad things - burning the figure (the old year man) and so the new year begins with renovated energy. It’s a very nice tradition.
