The UK government wants to raise language standards for UK visa applicants. Who will this affect? Skilled Worker visa applicants and also their adult family members. What is the change? Skilled Worker applicants will need English at B2 level. At the moment, it is B1 level which demonstrates the ability to handle routine interactions. At B2 level you will need to engage in more complex conversations, understand detailed texts and express opinions with confidence. What level of English do my dependents need? Adult dependents must demonstrate A1 level which is very basic. If they wish to extend the visa, they will need to show they have improved their English proficiency to A2 or above.
