One simple question: what is the difference between "check" and "check with"?
When I write email, I tend to say "I check with sb to make sure..." and "I checked sth just now and..." Sometimes it just doesn't feel right and I get stumped. Please advise me whether I am writing these sentence correctly. Thanks!

Both seem okay to me.
I will check with somebody - implies you will ask someone to confirm something
I will check something -implies you will confirm/ look into it yourself.

Check suggests you are checking by yourself.
Check with means you ask someone or use another source of information.
Do you have a spare room?
Let me check
Do you have a spare room?
Let me check with my colleague.
