That’s good to know, Cecília :) In Russia we usually whistle :)

Here in Brazil, when we can't knock the door or ring any bell to call the person, we start clapping to see if there's anyone home

In Indonesia we shout "bu pakk.." or name of the houseolder or name someone we are looking for. or call the neighbors to check the house. (Just in village, the neighbors are very close)
