Hi there today i'm going to talk about topic that pros and cons of revising Article 9. I think that to revive is not good idea. But first let’s check what Article 9 is and why it was made. After the end of the Second World War, Japan was placed under the control of General Headquarters celled GHQ and the Constitution of Japan was drawn up to abolish militarism and promote democracy. This constitution is known as the "Peace Constitution" and characterized by the principle of renunciation of war. Article 9 of the Constitution not only prohibits the use of force as a means of settling international disputes but also forbids Japan to maintain land, sea, and air forces as well as other war potential. It is true that Some Japanese people think the activities of the Self-Defense Forces should be expanded, and some of them advocate Japan's participation in collective defense operations in order to maintain global peace and stability. However, I think it is not Peace Constitution. We need just Self-Defense Forces, and it should be the minimum required military capability. In addition, if we have huge military capability, we cannot show how peace is important. Therefore, I think that to revive is not good idea. Thank you for listening.
