In Russian/Ukrainian when I'm looking for something and I find it very close to where I was I can say that for example 'the book was RIGHT UNDER MY NOSE.'
What are the common ways to say this in English? ('the book was RIGHT UNDER MY NOSE.' )

Also, another phrase with the same meaning: 
"If it was a snake, it would have bit me."

In English you can also say "right under someone's nose", it's a very common expression.
