"refer back" is it polite

Hi all...,


If somebody ask me on email and need my asnwer soon but i need to cross check before final asnwer..is it polite if i say "i will refer back to you soon" ??? is it common using in English?

It actually doesn't make sense in the context you've given. Have a look at the meaning here: http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/refer+back+to

Perhaps you meant "I will get back to you soon"? This is fine.

A more polite or formal phrase would be, "I will contact you once I have received a clear answer."

This is more common in instant messaging like text messages. For an email awaiting a response it may come off as rude to send an email only saying you will reply again with your actual answer later on.
