Some common acronyms/abbreviations/short forms/text talk

The following is a list of some common English acronyms/abbreviations/short forms/text talk that are used on the web, in emails, text messages, Instant Messaging (IM), etc.
The acronyms / abbreviations are usually written in upper case (upper case means CAPITAL LETTERS).

RECOMMENDATION FROM RICHARD:

Be very careful when you use these acronyms.
They should not be used for formal and business communications.
They are really for the purpose of text messaging.
Remember, a lot of people don't know what these acronyms mean.

I did not include the acronyms that use bad words or swearing words.

Sudeep... Thank you for your comments. I'm glad you find this short list of acronyms helpful.

Laura... Unless you are texting in English, there are not many occasions when you would need to use an acronym. So the good news is 'you don't need to learn the thousands of acronyms that exist' :).  Thank you for your comments.

Thanks a lot Richard.

Even I will not use them it is very good to know them. But I do not know maybe sometimes I will use them. However I want to ask English speakers: Why do you kill  your language with these words? I like only shortened words which show emotions. For example if something is very funny, we need to use them in order to show our emotions.

Thank you Richard for this information. I do not use acronyms in English but people do and it is not easy to know their meaning. I did not know there was such a long list!

I will usually use EOM at the end of the subject line. This lets the reader know that the entire message is communicated in the subject and they do not need to open the email any further:
