Canadian riddle

One day while sitting at home you decide to clean out your chesterfield. You find a shriveled timbit, a loonie, a toonie, and one dirty sock. Elated, you eat the timbit, put on the sock, toss the loot into your empty pockets, throw on your coat, toque and boots, and head out to your favorite place. When you get there you order a double double ($1.99) and a donut ($0.99).

How many coins do you walk home with?

If you don't have pennies any more, what do you spend when you go to the 'washroom', as you call it?

As an American, it sounds to me like a looney tune wrote this :)

And an answer especially for Igor :)

Option 4 (for Igor). As part of your regular work out routine you like to carry heavy, unwieldy objects while performing routine tasks. You quickly recall the bounty your 15 year old chesterfield has recently gifted you with and decide to show it off proudly to the world. You hoist the 30 kg sofa onto your shoulder and walk (stumble) out the door. When you arrive at Tim Hortons, you join the line and proudly SIT in line on your paisley chesterfield you bought at Hudson Bay back when you were younger. Being the friendly sort you nod and give each person in line with you a "How's it going eh?" You even offer to let others join you in reclining while you wait to arrive at the front of the line. When the cashier tells you it's going to be $3.15 and your fellow Canadians see the sadness in your eyes they quickly offer up the missing coins. You walk home with a belly full of coffee, a suger buzz from the donut, and your trusty chesterfield slung over your shoulder. And no coins :)

Ok, answer time :)

After ordering, the cashier says "That will be $3.15 please".

You stare dully at your $3.00 worth of coins while still savoring the aftertaste of the stale timbit and try to decide what to do. You have forgotten about the taxman. Everywhere in Canada you have to at least add GST (Goods and Services Tax) which is 5%. Some provinces will also add a provincial tax. Happily, you live in Ontario where meals under $4.00 are only charged GST. Sadly you don't have $4.00. While contemplating the slightly itchy feeling coming from one foot, you ponder your options.

Option 1: Walk dejectedly home with your loonie and toonie rattling in your pocket dreaming about coffee and donuts.

Option 2: Decide you need caffeine and go for the double double. $1.99 * 1.05 = $2.10 rounded up to the nearest $0.05 (we don't have pennies - $0.01 - anymore): You receive $0.90 back in coins: 3 quarters (0.25 each), 1 dime (0.10), and a nickel (0.05)

Option 3: Decide you are awake enough because the dirty sock is itching like mad and go for the donut. $0.99 * 1.05 = $1.05 rounded up to the nearest $0.05. You receive $0.95 back in coins: 3 quarters (0.25 each) and 2 dimes (0.10 each)
