How to remember and use vocabulary list? One of the most common problem that many of language learners may have is that they can learn the English word with its synonym
But after sometime if you see that word or hear that you can understand what it means but in conversation you can't use and remember that word:/😐🤨🤔
Comment in the below in order to share our ideas to find out what's the best way to memorise and use new words?!

Unfortunately with the English language there are so many idioms and slang. That is why it is hard to learn English.

What I would focus on if I were you is try and learn the literal terms first then you can learn the synonms, idioms and/or slang.

For example: learn the word cool for what is is.

Meaning: of or a fairly low tempature.

Later you can learn that the word cool is also used to say something is fashionably attractive, or thats its also used to explain someone who remains calm under pressure, and it's also used to say to become less hot.

So my suggestion is learn the literal term and stick to it's 1st definition.

There is nothing wrong with speaking English on a literal level. Everyone will respond to it well.

The idioms and slang Americans use is a way of expressing who they are because not everyone uses the word cool in the same way.

When you start having a concerstaion and you don't understand why the person your speaking with used a word that doesn't make sense in that sentence or sounds funny that's when you can ask them questions and you will start learning even more.

Simplify your learning, stick with the literal definitions first.

Good luck.

For someone who has a fish memory such as myself, I'd recommend using mnemonics. for example, if you want to remember the word "Coffee" you can try remembering the word "Cafe".

Keep practicing the word by putting it in a useful sentence.

Give yourself a break and hopefully, it will pop up again!

I suppose that learning any language requires a skill. Like all skills, to improve it, you just need to practice. Only then you can watch yourself developing from earlier stages to more advanced ones. About me, there are many vocabulary that i knew long time ago but i did not start to use them in conversations until I heard someone else saying them to me. that moment, my mind was triggered to use them :)

It can also help if you link new vocabulary to your own interests.

An emotive connection can aid retention so if you connect a new word to something you enjoy then it should, hopefully, be easier to recall.

For example, if you are trying to learn the word 'ordinarily' you could use it in a complete sentence to talk about something / someone important to you - "Ordinarily, I see my friends on Friday night."

Use flashcards to revise new vocabulary. I strongly recommend using QUIZLET to create your own flashcards and revise them on the go from your mobile devices.
