good books? Does anyone know good text books to buy to help learn Japanese? I am currently only using memrise but would like to get a better experience in books.

I have not formally studied Japanese but I have friends that swear by "Japanese from Zero" series (yesjapan.com)

I can recommend Genki and A guide to Japanese Grammar by Tae Kim. Honestly though, if you are a beginner, almost any textbook will do the job.

I think the textbooks called Genki and Minnano Nihongo are popular amongst Japanese learners.
