These days I don't drive very often, just do it from time to time. I'm quite a careful driver, I follow the rules (in 99% of cases) but I hate to drive being alone. The presence of anyone else - my husband, my dad, a friend or even my one-year-old daughter who's definitely not a helper:) - makes me feel much more confident and relaxed. Every time I 'm going to a new destination, I double-check maps first and sometimes even print them out and take them with me. I can't use a GPS properly - I can never match what it says with what I see around me on the roads. Maybe it's also because I drive a manual transmission car and have to concentrate on extra things. I really like it though.
How about you? What do you like and hate about driving (except traffic jams:) )? What are your strengths and weaknesses, in this context?
I'm curious to hear about your experience and will be glad to learn some new vocabulary.
I usually check three things in driver's profile: class of their car, maximum amount of people that can travel in the backseat, and reviews.
I don't travel in old cars, in the cars where smoke is allowed, or if there may be three people in the back, or if I don't like the driver in their photo.
Usually, there are other passengers. But I never worry if I am alone. Sometimes I don't like the style of driving, but you never know it unless you start traveling. This is the risky part of this service, unfortunately.
Thanks Olga started this discussion. I think we could learn some new words and expressions. Thank the comments. I like driving but if car does not neccessary I choose public transport or walking or a bike. I passed my driving license when I was 17 years old. It is the earliest age when you can acquire the license according the law in my country. I prefer to drive in high-ways. Driving in big cities can be horrible.
Anyway you can watch English learning videos on youtube connected to driving.
Now I am more confident that I can drive well, but prefer to spend my money on travelling or beautiful clothes rather than on buying a car. Besides, it takes 1 hour to get from one end of my town to another, so it's definitely no need to own a car here.
As I am always late to work in the morning I call a taxi, and use BlaBlaCar servicewhen have to get to another city.
