Paying attention. Why do we use here the verb to pay? So expensive? Interesting.. We pay bills, pay for a coffee in restaurant. In this context "attention" sounds like a thing that costs some money.
What do you think? Are you good at paying attention? Have you ever lost something because of not paying enough attention?

I just try memorise these 2 words, and would be great if you help me with it. Wish you a nice day :)

Actually in this context attention is like the money we pay for the coffee, not the coffee itself. I'm trying to think of other expressions like this but they are quite old-fashioned, like "pay no heed" or "pay no mind".

A long time ago I used the phrase 'put somebody's attention'. I received feedback that it is too strong and we need to use 'pay attention'.

Probably to 'pay attention' is cheaper than to 'put attention'.   :-)
