中秋節 Mooncake Festival
This coming Friday, It will be the Mid-Autumn Festival on the lunar calendar. It's one of the most important festivals of the year in Taiwan. We celebrate the lunar festival by gathering with family and friends to eat pomelo mooncakes and B.B.Q. Is there any special festivals in your country?

As someone in the comments already pointed out, India is a paradise when it comes to different festivals. We have 1 to 2 festivals every month, it's a fun atmosphere.

Pomelo is shaddock (Citrus grandis). All I know is that it is really big compared to other citrus fruits. As for festivals, I would be lost if I start counting them for India. Still, these are worthy of a brief mention:

  1. Holi, the festival of colours, preceded by lighting bonfires on the previous night.
  2. Divali, the festival of lights. Homes are decorated by lights, preferably traditional oil lamps and there are a lot of fireworks (though fireworks aren't really traditional).
  3. Dussehra or Navratri, a nine day long festivity that ends with the burning of giant effigies of a mythical demon king.
  4. Ganesh Chaturthi, a celebration of the elephant headed demigod, Ganesha. Ganesha is said to be at the inception of all activities and the life sustaining energy.
  5. Festivals associated with religions other than Hinduism such as Eid, Christmas, Easter, Parsi New Year, Guru Nanak's anniversary and in certain parts even the Chinese New Year.
