Partial summary of the characters of Death of Nile
-- I'm reading "death on nile" in English ( please don't spoiler, I didn't finish it yet! ) and I tried to do a summary ( it isn't completed ) of some character --
The story begins with two men, Mr. Burnaby, the landlord of the Three Crowns, and his companion, a lean, seedy-looking man, whom introduced the character of Linnet Ridgeway.
Linnet Ridgeway was a young girl of twenty, with golden hair, lovely shape and straight autocratic features.
She was the daughter of Anna Hartz and Melhuish Ridgeway; she inherited an immense fortune from her grandfather Leopold Hartz.
She took over the Wode Hall from Sir George, for sixty thousands pound and she was spending more money to modernize the place, building swimming pools, Italian gardens and pulling down half of the house and rebuilding them.
She was supposed to marry Lord Windlesham, even if she was buying time to postpone her answer.
Lord Windlesham was one of richest man in the country and he was the landlord of Charltonbury, a quite famous country house.
He wanted to marry Linnet and he didn't want accept a refusal from her and he was ready to wait.
Honn. Joanna Southwood is one the Linnet's best friends; she was a tall thin woman of twenty-seven, with a clever face who, as she herself says to Linnet, likes only important and rich peoples.
Jackie De Bellefort is Linnet's best friend, a girl with curly hair and enormous eyes. They were together at a convent in Paris.
She used to be a rich girl, even if now she was penniless.
She was the daughter of a French count, who went off with some woman and left her mother. This latter lost all of her money to the wall street crash.
She was engaged with a poor boy, Simon Doyle, of whom she was frightfully in love.
Unfortunately Simon Doyle recently lost his job and this was preventing their wedding.
Jackie, who read the news about her oldest friends, called Linnet asked her to hire Simon as land agent for her estate Wode Hall.
Simon Doyle was a tall young man with broad shoulders, dark blue eyes, crisply curling brown hair.
