Is Eng-Chn translation brainkilling...:( As a chinese who's been learning English for about 10 yrs, i really find it torture to translate between these two languages( i mean translation not interpretation).Just like today i was about sitting before my computer for nearly 5 hours just to finish an assignment(an article with 400 words)given by my translation teacher..There're so many difference in culture, expressions, idioms, slangs, logic etc.....The problem is that u'll always want to perfect or better ur version of translation cuz u know there must be some better ways to equal with the source text..but i just cant think of:( It's really soooooooo hard to be a translator .finally i got dizzy and kind of lost my patience.that's the problem of my study in translation. I think that your English is very very good! I would imagine that translation would be very difficult to do, so I think its normal that it takes you a long time! I guess the more you practise, the faster you will get! 加油!

I agree. I translated a few of my friends abstracts from their theses from Chinese to English, and it was REALLY hard. I found the difference in logic and idea presentation to be the toughest challenges to overcome. Especially the or 4 or 5 lined run on sentences in Chinese...you have to re-splice all the ideas to fit together logically in English. I don't envy you, but the more you do it the easier it'll become. 加油!
