Doubts about korean grammar 한국말에 대한 질문

I have many doubts in korean language. I hope someone can help me to solve it. My first question is: what is the difference between 아주 and 너무. I will appreciate your help.

안녕하세요! 한국말에 대해서 질문이 많이 있어요. 한국 사람이 제 질문에 대답해줬으면 하는 바람이에요. 제 질문 '아주' 와 '너무' 의 다른 것은 뭐요?

안녕하세요!

아주 is a bit old-fashioned or slightly formal, so it's used to speak sarcastically or to intensify what you say.

For example,

잘 다, 아주 Good job. (sarcasm)
미친다, 아주 I go crazy / I'm going crazy (emphatic)
이거 아주 좋아요. (slightly formal)

되게 is the most common word as 'very', and about 매우, it is used in writing or formal speech.

너무 was used in negative sentences as Pascal Kim mentioned. Mind if I add something to that? =} We tend to pick 너무 when giving a compliment. Hope it helps!

Doubts about korean grammar 한국말에 대한 질문

in my opinion,
I think '아주' is often used in written not spoken.
in spoken, '정말' or '진짜' is used instead of '아주'.
actually, I guess I've never used '아주' since I was a kid.

'아주' simply means "very" or "quite" and can be used in positive or negative sentences.
whereas, '너무' is usually used in negative sentences, meaning 'too(mush)' or ' overly'.
