合出斯言..
I think this is a classical Chinese saying but I'm not sure... What exactly does this mean?
Does it mean something like "Why do these words come out" ?

My simple rule of thumb: 何出此言=why
For example:
A:我恨张三！I hate ZhangSan
B:何出此言？Why?

why do you speak out the words?
it's kind of classical, but we still use it cause it's short and brief...especially in written Chinese...
When you don't understand why other people say something, you can ask "何出此言？"
