"I've already selected a young girl. Youth both matches well. [<em>I don't understand this phrase</em>] There might be others I haven't seen yet. Now I'll give you the instructions on how to proceed further on. Do you know Harridge's hotel?"
Jane gasped. Who in England wouldn't know Harridge's hotel located in a modest side-street in Mayfair. That morning Jane had read about the arrival of Grand Dutch (<em>Duchess?</em>) Pauline. She had come to London to start up a charity for refugees and she was staying at Harridges hotel.
"Yes", answered Jane to the colonel's question. "Great. Go there and ask for Count Streptich. Give him your calling card up there. Have you got it?"
Jane produced the card. The colonel took it and wrote down on one corner of it of the card a small sign. Then he returned it to her the card. He said : "Now you can rest assured that the count will receive you. He will know that I sent you. The final decision is up to him... and up to one more person too. If he considers you appropriate, he will explain it fully to you that all and you can accept or decline his proposal.
Are you all right?" "Absolutely", said Jane. [<em>Interesting story, set in my home town! Well done! Don't forget speech marks for reported speech. Michael]</em>
