What is going on around me? I live in (Kalar) a town located in the southern part of Kurdistan region of Iraq. I was going on with my daily life, working, going out with friends some times, going to coffee and talk with people about some daily stuffs etc... as usual, there was nothing new. and life was seems to be a little boring. But now the situation has completely changed. The ISIS militants are only 30 kilometers away of my town. And they are in a continuous fighting with Kurdistan Peshmarga forces. people are feeling a real threat on their life now. Well here has never been in a 100% of stability, and there was always a potential threat, But this time it is more serious. Maybe for someone out of here it seems almost impossible to live in such a situation. but I think if we could deal with the reality, whatever is it?. Then it will be easier to live in such a situation.

I live in Kalar, a town in the southern part of the Kurdish region of Iraq. I was going about my daily life; working; going out with friends; going for coffee and talking with people about current events. Nothing new, and life seemed a little boring.
Now the situation has changed completely, because ISIS is only thirty kilometers away. They are in an ongoing battle with Kurdish Peshmarga Forces. People's lives are in danger now. There has never been 100% stability here, and there has always been a threat of violence, but this time it is real.
Foreigners think that it is impossible to live like this, but I think that if we understood what we were up against, life would be easier.

It is very good to hear from someone like you talking about this crisis. Everyone here hopes that a safe and lasting resolution to the unrest comes to be very soon. Good luck.

As usual, there was nothing new and life seemed to be a little boring. But now the situation has completely changed. The ISIS militants are only 30 kilometers away from my town. And they are in a continuous fight with Kurdistani Peshmarga forces. people are feeling a real threat to their lives now. Well, it has never been 100% of stable here, and there was always a potential threat. But this time it is more serious. Maybe for someone who isn't from here, it seems almost impossible to live in such a situation. Well I hope you stay safe. ISIS is all over the news and it looks scary.

Dear Daniel, Andrew, YoY and Juan, thank you all for your comments, and corrections. I'm new on this web and I don't know much about it. But as I see here are many good people who are really want to help. And I also want to thank you all for your sympathy with me and my people. Here is not in a good situation I know, but I just want to ensure you all, that there is nothing to be worry about. We have a strong army, they are fighting bravely. And most of people here are ready to fighting beside army if it was needed. So I believe that my nation and my people can come out successful in this battle. be sure.

I am sorry to hear that. Would you be able to consider about evacuation with your family? I think preparation needs to be done as early as possible before the worst situation occurs. Please stay safe.
