Shitty company

Today has been a hard day. I had a problem 7 days ago - well, an accident - while I was working as a kitchen porter.
I burned my foot with boiled water and now, I just can get 80 pounds per week (governament), because the company tells me ,that they are not guilty, that it was my fault, but I´m not sure about this.  I think that the company has the duty to provide the workers with safety shoes, and they didn´t give me anything. If i would have had a pair of safety shoes ,the accident wouldn´t have happened.. And now I dont know what I can do... can help me anyone?? Thanks
