Stupid IELTS speaking questions Some IELTS questions in speaking test are weird, but acceptable for an exam. However, I have encountered some really silly questions, like" What do people usually borrow in your country?" " What kind of streets are popular in your country?" IELTS exam is to test one's English language level to see if he/she can really communicate verbally with English native speakers. Have known this, I can't help thinking in what situation English people would really ask those questions mentioned above? Translating the questions into my mother tongue, I am 100% sure I will never ask anyone such questions. In a real life what kind of people or in what situations a person will ask such stupid questions??!! I know I can make up the answers to show how good I am when using English: complicated grammars and a diverse vocabulary... But hey, can't you see how stupid these questions are??!!

I've found that the best way to answer such a question is to laugh it off, say that you think the question is really weird, and you can't give a proper response. Most of the time the examiner will agree that yeah, some questions really are a bit silly. ;P
