Yesterday the weather was bad. It was cold and it was snowing.
In the morning I had to go to the University, but my car broke down.
I did not know what happened and I went by bus.
It turned out that the battery has been discharged.

I did not know what had happened and I went by bus.
It turned out that the battery had discharged.
The last sentence could be - It turned out that the battery was flat.
In British English we almost always refer to discharged batteries as being 'flat'.
My car wouldn't start because the battery was flat.
I couldn't use my phone, the battery was flat.

Hello Mar, It is a awful case. I am guessing you are good at cars, because you could quickly guess what happened with a car, and straight away you made decision to use a bus. I hope you have managed this issue, and maybe you have changed the battery with new one or just charged the old one. Anyway I wish you good luck. Take care.

Hi I`m english stundent too.
I think go by bus It`snt right Cause I think you are trying to say t"hat you were on the bus you travel on it". But go by bus may mean that you walk to find a bus.
The second thing it`s in my opinion the present perfecto it`s not correct in this phrase "It turned out that the battery has been discharged.".
I think it`s better to use the past perfect because the event happened before the past simple. "It turned out that the battery had discharged".
