And the third longest river in the world. That's no doubt. Its length is 6397 kilometers. It originates from Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. Exactly, its headwater is located in Bayan Har Mountains Qinghai Province.It throughs 11 provincial administrative region: Qinghai Province, Tibet,Yunnan Province, Sichuan Province, Chongqing City,Hubei Province, Hunan Province,Jiangxi Province, Anhui Province,Jiangsu Province and Shanghai City. The section from the headwater to Yichang（宜昌）is the upstream ,its length is 4504 kilometers ; the section from Yichang（宜昌）to Hukou County Jiangxi Province（江西省湖口县）is the midstream ,its length is 955 kilometers ,the section from Hukou County to the estuary is the downstream ,its length is 938 kilometers . It has eight main tributaries of over 700 kilometers. The longest tributary is Hanjiang River （汉江）;The second , is Yalongjiang River（雅砻江）. The length of the two both are over 1500 kilometers .
