Books That Have Shocked Me: Animal Farm. Part 2
Part 1: https://www.italki.com/entry/720818
Napoleon involved a combination of propaganda and terror, so animals who wanted to be free, found themselves, even in more complicated situations than they used to be. They were complaining before that they didn’t have enough food, but with a new dictator they almost stopped to eat at all. In the same time pigs, as a privileged caste, started to live in the owner’s house (after their revolution, he had to escape) and ate the best food they could get. It was a bit strange, because firstly Napoleon claimed that living in the owner’s house is forbidden! But then he changed a rule, explaining his decision in a very nice way, so animals trusted him.
Napoleon also claimed that “All animals are equal”, but during the novella this motto was changed. He changed it to: “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others”. Pigs were absolutely satisfied, they were the most important in this totalitarian regime they made. They claimed ideas about good future for everyone and then changed in a way they like.
I am totally in love with the way how Orwell described different animals in the farm, how they reacted and what they did.
And in the end… You will never predict what’s gonna happen!
I totally recommend you to read this genial book with a lot of allusions and with a really deep sense!

Yes, Eddie, '1984' is definitely one of the best book I've ever read!

Thank you for your help!
Unfortunately, no, but I would like to read. I like 'Animal Farm' and '1984', so I think 'Down and Out in London and Paris ' will be interesting for me.

If you appreciate this, you might also appreciate Orwell's "1984." The motion picture version of 1984, made in the late 80s, is excellent, and was the last film Richard Burton made before he died. Orwell was one of the greatest English language authors of the 20th century. We sometimes refer to certain concepts as "Orwellian."

Yana - this is a really difficult topic to write about and you've done a really good job, overall.
I agree with you that Animal Farm is a great book.
Have you read 'Down and Out in London and Paris by the same author'? Very good auto-biographical book.
If there is anything that you don't understand in the corrections, please ask..
