In what way can it be worthwhile to have the whole world if you lose your soul?
Most religions suggest their faithful a lifestyle based on ethical principles that derives from their worldview. Despite God or gods are spiritual beings, and so impossible to perceive by empirical means, however, the religion fact has a lot of different manifestations in the culture, traditions, customs, associations, etc. Besides, religion also influences and interferes the way people live and look for their happiness. Our current world cannot be understood without considering the role religion plays in it.
Unlike animals, human beings are aware that they are alive and free to build their own lives making decisions constantly. It is not an easy task because we have to discern what to do and how to behave in the situations we live through. We are responsible for our actions and that fact creates in us a conscience of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ and feelings like the one of being ‘culprit’.
But, how do these emotions and senses appear inside us? It is something connected with biological processes and chemical reactions, but its complete meaning cannot be explained only in those terms. It is something that goes beyond us.
The most internal feelings (such as love or hate) we go through and the implications of our acts are more than the movement of a complex net of atoms. Putting aside social and psychological theories, I simply would like to point out its transcendent meaning. It is something concerning the way we have been cleverly designed.
All religions contain in their creed or in their writings the idea of creation and give a supernatural meaning to our existence. We are undoubtedly different from the rest of the living beings. We are like a kind of ‘little gods’, creative and powerful, capable of taking this world and re-create it with our work.
Freedom, responsibility and work are the keys that let us not only transform the nature, but also ourselves. How to do it? Hear the voice of your heart, which is the voice of God. Do not be selfish, do not seek the immediate benefit, just follow the way of love, walk by the path of generosity and do not make deceived by destructive pleasures. As the Spanish poet used to say ‘walker, there’s no path, it’s done when you hike”.
It is your decision. You are the most important being for yourself. Look after others and so you will be looking after you.

Hear (or "By hearing...") the voice of your heart, which is the voice of God.
