Thank you for your letter from August 25. It has been a long way journey to reach this moment, but all the effort was worth it. I want to start as soon as possible to change the current situation.

Regarding the trip to New York: After being elected president, I have the pleasure to attend the congress (1) as the maximum responsible of a company as important as ours. (2) Paquita will not go this year because she is pregnant and the doctor told her that it is not a good idea to take a plane in her current situation.

Regards,

(1) conference and convention are more common ways to translate congreso in this context.

(2) perhaps: "as the highest-ranking employee of our company"
